TOP OF THE TOPS: NIKE BASKETBALL SHOES

Boost your game with fresh kicks for the hardwood from Foot Locker’s pick of the best Jordan and Nike basketball shoes around. There’s a reason most NBA players use Nike basketball shoes. The aesthetics are on point, for both the classic styles and the uber-modern ones, but that only tells a very small part of the story. Nike get basketball, it’s firmly in the brand’s DNA. They put new technologies to the test to ensure they will optimize their products and help you level up your game. Even if the more old-school Nike basketball boots like the Blazer, the Dunk or the Jordan 1 may look basic compared to this year’s signature shoes, they have all been made with the court in mind. The wearer’s freedom of movement, their ability for steep crossovers, fast transitions and leaps and landings are all central parts of the design process. Here you will find the right pair of Nike basketball shoes for you based on your playing style – just scroll down on the product page for the model’s description and features. Or, you can follow in the footsteps of one of the current NBA ballers rocking Nikes or Jordan’s on the court – 8 of whom have signature shoes.

LEBRON TO KYRIE: NIKE’S BASKETBALL SIGNATURE SHOES

Cop a pair of your hero’s signature Nike basketball shoes right on this page. There’s the Lebron 19 with a choice of vibration colorways and some inverted from the left shoe to the right. There’s the futuristic-looking Giannis Immortality from Giannis Antetokounmpo, or the Kyrie 8, a shoe that is optimized for Kyrie Irving’s explosive moves on the hardwood. There are the PG 5 and PG 6 signature shoes of NBA All-Star Paul George, and if you’re a Kevin Durant fan or just a bit of an all-rounder on the court, go for the ultra-responsive KD 14 or KD 15.

NBA stars choosing Nike basketball shoes is nothing new, but when Nike did enter the scene, they did it with a bang.

NIKE BASKETBALL TRAINERS: THE BIG BANG

Before Nike basketball shoes landed in 1972 them, the world had only known the canvas styles like the Converse All Stars. Nike made theirs from leather and suede so they were lighter and offered more support. Everyone started to catch on and by the time the Nike Blazer came out in 1978, Nike’s were in. The next 7 years would be huge, the Blazer was the forefather of two of the most iconic basketball shoes to this day. In 1982, Nike dropped the Air Force 1 – the first basketball shoe to use Nike Air technology. The AF1 was only available in high-top at first – OG basketball style. Three years later, the AF1 was becoming more of a casual style in a low-top version, and Nike brought out the biggest one ever – the Jordan 1. The rest, as we know, is history.
